March

Since I wasn't in parkrun action in Feburary, I decided to ease myself back into it and head to Strathclyde park run for the first weekend in March.  It was pacer day so I decided to go with the 30 minute pacer and stick with it.  I felt comfortable all the way round and broke away from the pacer in the last kilometer to finish in 29.34.

Since that went so well I thought Pollok parkrun was the next logical step the next week.  But half way round the second loop I started to struggle and had to walk on a couple of occasions. I still got round in 30.22 though so maybe just went out too fast.

I decided the next week to have a go at Pollok again and struggled big time! I actually felt ill after the first lap and had to do lots of walking in the second lap and ended up recording my slowest time ever for any parkrun (excluding tail running) in 33.18.  Not sure what was up but it wiped me out for the rest of the weekend.

Today I really wanted to get back on top of things and headed back to Pollok for the 3rd time this month.  It was the first time they have used pacers and I thought sticking to the 30 min pacer would be a good aim.  That was until I started! She went zooming off and I just decided to run my own race from there.  Like all of my Pollok parkruns this month I found it tough going but this time, I paced it better and felt better so I managed to go all the way round without walking, finishing in 30.16. 3 minutes difference from the previous week!

Its now a month to go till the Balfron 10k and I'm starting to feel like maybe its just too soon for it since I am still not comfortably getting round 5ks.  I know exactly why. Its down to the fact that I'm just not doing any runs during the week, pretty much since the start of the year. I'm going to try and get out more in April but will need to motivate myself better and get myself into a routine.
